im gonna be honest, a pretty big amount of why i made this page was just for the insane styling it let me do

!! bfdi and bfb themes arent finished !!

what the fuck is an object show

its a show about objects duh.....
really though, thats all it is! a show about sentient objects. usually its a competition but not always. if its a competition then the viewers usually get to choose a character to be eliminated but not always.

personal experiences

basically i keep leaving and coming back to the osc

i first saw bfdi in 2015, maybe 2016. i was definetely active in the osc when the first half of bfb was ongoing but im not sure if i was there when bfb 1 came out. i definetely remember the wait for bfb 14. i kinda lulled out of it after a while - which i would assume happened in.. like... 2019? maybe 2020 actually - and i ended up coming back in 2020~2021
i dont actually remember much other than some isolated events so take all those dates with some salt. 'basically i keep leaving and coming back to the osc' is really all i can say with any real confidence. now everything after this i can actually be confident on the dates with because theyre more recent
i got into hfjone, which i think was actually my first object show after forgetting about them for like a year. the first episode i was around for the release of was 14, so i was there in 2022. i was part of the WTF WAS THAT crowd for a bit and while im still not too fond of the ending i have mostly calmed down (lot of people seemed to not know that being aware it succeeded at what it was doing does not mean i have to like it). then i dropped the osc again when i got really into homestuck which took up all of my 2023. and now im back on that shit in 2024!!
you could probably extrapolate some kinda pattern from this

here are some predictions for the coming bfdi episodes, and here are some of my ocs

i have started a toki pona translation of bfdi but i havent even finsihed 1a... and it is a one jan job so the voices will be dubious!!

bfdi summary ("summary")

the first object show [was/is/not too sure what tense to use here] BATTLE FOR DREAM ISLAND. that was also the name of season 1. season 1 was about a competition for an island, so now all the copycats are also about competitions. there were 25 contestants (+ a fan-submitted character who was voted to join and promptly eliminated because people got tired of the joke) and the host was a speaker box thing? like literally just a speaker. not with limbs and face or anything literally just a rectangle with a circle on it.

then there was season 2, amptly named "battle for dream island again." this had some of the 25 originals, some of the reccomended characters from bfdi, gelatin who was originally created for this season, yellow face who wasnt really made for this season but like ge wasnt really a defined CHARACTER before, and the host was. well ill get back to that actually. there were 5 episodes (bfdia 5 being split into parts 5a 5b 5c 5d and 5e. 5b was a video game which was kind of a homestucky move if im being honest.)
and then it was cancelled for a fucking decade, and then they randomly restarted it in the middle of season 5 for some reason. (actual reason was because of a fortune cookie. i am being 100% for real)
so anyway back to the host. post-revival the host changing every episode seems to be becoming a bit!

very interested to see who itll be next episode!

before the bfdia revival, there was idfb! idfb was like a slice of life thing. pretty cool. there was one (1) episode and now its on indefinite hiatus. then again, so was bfdia, so theres hope!

after idfb there was bfb, season 4. the host are 4 and x from a short animation about math that jnj made before bfdi (i promise im telling the truth here). bfb stands for Battle for BFDI. because in bfb they battle for a bfdi. whats a bfdi, you may be asking? its this fucking thing (actually saying what a bfdi is would be kinda spoilery!!!).
oh also presplit one of the teams was called BookDoraGatyIce CubeLollipopSawTacoTeardrop. pronounced exactly as it looks, 8 names layered on top of each other. because they misunderstood when they were asked what their team name was

after bfb 16, it was split into two shows - bfb (now standing for Battle for BFB, because the prize was replaced with a bfb [even SHOWING a bfb would be even bigger spoilers than explaining what a bfdi is!]) and Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.

in TPOT, contrary to what you may assume, they do not battle for a 'dream island the power of two' - frankly, the notion strikes me as reckless and foolhardy wait nevermind wrong page for that reference. anyway, in TPOT they battle for the power of two, because the host is an arabic numeral with infinite power (because math joke) named Two (because they are a 2) and said infinite power is the prize.
post teamswap one of the teams is called... uh. 𝅘𝅥𝅘𝅥𝅘𝅥𝅘𝅥 𝅘𝅥𝅘𝅥. its not really textually reprsentable without css, its straight up just music. wiki editors are suffering greatly for it; at one point [[Bagged]] redirected to [[𝄞♩♩♩♩𝇓𝇓]] which redirected to [[Bagged]] and so on infinitely, for some reason.
(for the record, if you want the code for that its <span style="display: inline-block"><span style="position: relative; bottom: 0.35em">𝅘𝅥</span><span style="position: relative; bottom: 0.1em;">𝅘𝅥</span><span style="position: relative; bottom: -0.15em">𝅘𝅥</span><span style="position: relative; bottom: -0.15em">𝅘𝅥</span> <span style="transform: rotate(180deg); display: inline-block; position: relative; bottom: 0.35em">𝅘𝅥</span><span style="transform: rotate(180deg); display: inline-block; position: relative; bottom: 0.1em">𝅘𝅥</span></span>. YOURE WELCOME)

other object shows

theres inanimate insanity which is a pretty big deal being one of the first nonbfdi object shows... but i do not care for it in the damn slightest so w/e

theres ONE, by cheesy hfj, people call it hfjone so its not hell to talk about, its pretty cool, i would NOT reccomend it for someone trying to get into object shows not because its bad or anything (quite the opposite in fact!) but because you need the context of knowing what the average Generic Object Show that Probably Doesnt Even Manage to reach like Episode Ten looks like in order to understand what its trying to do. its like trying to read vast error without having read homestuck... <xfohv!fourvoice>you cant!</xfohv!fourvoice>
im kind of complicated about it but thats nothing to do with the show itself, just some associations my brain has pretty reasonably made. im doing my best to undo those associations too

theres also battle for circle, by the same guy as hfjone. its also parodying the average Generic Object Show that Probably Doesnt Even Manage to reach like Episode Ten but in a more straightforward way. if hfjone is the vast error to bfdis homestuck, then bfc would be cool and new web comic.

tyeres object fool or animatic battle or whatever you wanna call it, its neat. idk i binged it in 1 day and have not had much time to sit on it

object terror, right object terror thats one that exists... alright what do you think of senseless gore

cool bfb au fan animation stuff

honestly theres a lot more overlap between the homestuck fandom and the osc than id expect. im not sure why i find it so surprising, it makes sense in retrospect though i cannot begin to articulate why.

and while were applying homestuck to bfdi, here are my shipping opinions
